Letting me feel see and love.

The Smallwoods and The Callas became friends by heart.

Once the introduction happened we were fast friends. We don’t see one another often but we keep in touch. When Sarah was carrying Quinn Gracie, Callie Jo and I were hanging on every post Sarah made. Once Quinn was here the fascination didn't stop. We never miss a post. We love them, all of them. When Sarah called on me for a family session while she was carrying baby Simon I was thrilled. To say Quinn and I hit it off doesn’t quite capture it. Hand in hand Quinn helped me capture Mommy and Daddy smooching. She ate ice cream and smiled just like the tiny dancer she is. Fall rolled around and my message from Sarah, it’s time, now Baby Simon is smiling. Another year goes by we’re here again. This time we’re all running after Simon. I know and remember this time fondly from our own little rambunctious boy.

Side note: I always swing by the cemetery when I know their session is coming (Mom and Dad are just now being made aware of this.) I sit with Sophia. I pray with her. I ask her to show herself in her special way. I listen to Tiny Dancer on my way to their session on repeat. Sophia is with us. She is present. She is a presence. When I edit I look for her. In their first session I felt her in the yellows, she was bright and happy to see mommy, daddy and baby sister giggling with ice cream all the while a baby grew in mommies belly. In their second session I found her while we danced. Spinning around like a tiny dancer she was the music in the air. The trills and spins. This latest session I found her in the leaves. Blowing carefree and happy.

The Smallwood family is more than you see in a quick glance of an image. If you look closely you can see there is more. There is a presence of something more than we can see with just our eyes.
